APPLETON LE MOOR NEAR PICKERING YO62 6TG
What’s it all about?
The Committee organise yearly a trip to Hamley Hagg for the May Day bank holiday weekend each year. The week end is relaxed and the choice is yours how much or how little you do, stopping one, two or three nights, you choose. Unfortunately this year due to the lockdown we have had to postpone and the new date will be FRIDAY 28th AUGUST to MONDAY 31ST AUGUST 2020. Please Contact Sarah Thomas
The facilities for the horse include stable, bedding, hay or haylage per night per horse at a good cost. Use of the indoor, outdoor arena, jumping field and cross country course which on its own makes for a nice ride with good going.
AH AH!! Your accommodation is not included, camping, caravans or sleep in your trailer or lorry at no extra cost. There are on site showers and WC and a barn with fridge, cooker, kettle, table and chairs to use as a common room.
You can put yourself forward for lessons and be well catered for with top level coachs offering dressage, jumping and cross country tuition to a very high standard. Lessons can be individual or together in groups of 2 or 3 at a level to suit all. Everyone can be catered for whether you want just flat work lessons, starting out jumping with pole work or those high flyers wishing to be pushed a bit further jumping or cross country. The off road riding is so fabulous you may opt just to ride out or just to have lessons the choice is yours.
The week end starts on the Friday and upon arrival your time is free to ride out and set up home for the next couple of nights. We tend to cater for ourselves for the first evening at a small cost per head with choice such as lasagne meat or veg, garlic bread and salad. Bring your own bottles of your favourite tipple!!
On the Saturday everyone has something to do whether it be lessons or hacking out etc. Once we put our trusted tired steeds to bed it we usually depart to the local hostelry for a well earned evening meal usually by taxi so we can have a hard earned drink. Taxi’s are normally available.
Sunday sees much of the same with chosen lessons or hacking.
Monday morning lessons can be booked if required so there is plenty of opportunity to participate in your chosen field. After final lessons and clearing stables etc we depart for home.
There is truly something for everyone. Non riding partners can tag along with their mountain bikes and/or dogs, which are welcome but must not be left alone.
This is a no frills weekend for club members to take advantage of off road riding and tuition in the picturesque country side. There are no shops within walking distance so if you are going to need anything take it with you.
If you think we could add anything to our long weekend experience please get in touch with any member of the committee.
Hopefully see you there.
